It’s Time to Change Your Mindset

I am not at all, by any means, perfect. If it wasn’t for my mother, the constant guidance from the holy spirit, the random whispers from God, and the Holy Word, I would fall short every time, and the funny thing is, even though I have these things in my life, I can’t pretend that I don’t fall still. I find myself questioning my ability, constantly wondering if I’m good enough, but mainly wondering if I will ever be enough for myself. If I’ll ever stop finding something wrong with me. Because sometimes the hardest critic is yourself, sometimes the hardest critic is me. And it doesn’t stop there. Sometimes, I contradict myself. I wonder how I can drop to my knees and pray and say I believe that God will make a way out of no way, and then I turn around and worry while my anxiety grows. It just doesn’t make sense. And it’s not just me who falls short.

Increase your Faith

You see, it’s easy to pray, it’s easy to hear a word, and it’s easy to say you believe. But where the challenge comes in is when you sit down and pray and ask God to: give me the confidence I need, Lord, to do your work, remove every infirmity, every obstacle, and enemy in my way, and Lord begin to open doors for me so that I may find a new way. But, will you actually believe that God will do it for you, and if he opens that door, will you walk in? Or will you let the lies that you tell yourself and the words of the enemy continue to hold you hostage and keep your mind in bondage? And when a word is prophesied to you, saying, “God says, he will make you great, and he will begin to release the promises he has made over the years and help you to birth the thing that has been dormant in your womb.” Will you receive it, or will you continue to tell yourself it’s too late, I don’t see it happening for me? You see, faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). A wise woman once said, “Sometimes you have to give your eyes a vacation and let your ears guide you to your next destination because the things you see will always deceive you.”

Watch What You Say and Think

We get so caught up in our everyday problems, stressing at night because we don’t have enough money to pay our bills, or pacing the floor at night because we feel we’re not good enough to lead, not good enough to find someone, not good enough to voice our ideas, not good enough to make a change. But we fail to pinpoint the common denominator, the enemy, and the root of all our problems is me, it’s you. We’re our own worst enemy. It’s not the things people are saying about us that’s destroying us; it’s the things we say to ourselves, the things we think about ourselves that’s keeping us from growing and reaching the next level. Matthew 15:11 says, “It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” Proverbs states, “Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.” (Proverbs 19:8). It also states, “those who guard their mouths and their tongue keep themselves from calamity.” (Proverbs 21:23). Yet still, we go through our days trying to handle more than we can carry, constantly rehearsing lies. I can’t do, I won’t do, I will never become, The Lord says, “Cast all your cares unto me, and lean not on your own understanding; Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to me.” (Philippians 4:6). And we do the exact opposite. We spend most of our time worrying about what we don’t have and what we’re lacking as a people, as a church, we forget to utilize what God has already blessed us with, what God has already given us.

God’s Instructions

 God told me to tell his people, “It’s time to change your mindset. It’s time to surrender to me. I need you to stop resisting my word and submit to my authority. Stop basing your decisions on what you see and don’t see. The poisons of this world were not made for you to indulge in your mind; they were made for you to realize your weaknesses and become better at strategizing. You see, I allow you to fall short, so that you may find ways to get over your fear even when you feel like you’re not good enough or strong enough. I purposely placed that thorn in you to keep you from being conceited and boastful (2 Cor 12:7). This forces you to call on me for strength and guidance, and when you do, I will strategically help you find ways to resist the enemy. Praise me even with the disability. I will fill you with only great things. Do not be fooled by the lies of the enemy, do not lose faith in me because when you need, I will provide; and when you feel weak, I will give you strength, and when you are fearful, I will give you the courage you need to get through. Do not worry about anything, but pray about everything.” (Philippians 4:6).

Decree and Declare

You see, it’s not what we see or what we feel that matters; it all comes down to what we believe that God can do, and who God says we are. We will always fall short. But God says, you can decree and declare over your life today that you are good enough, that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13), you are the head and not the tail above and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13). Say, Lord I surrender to you, less of me and more of you, I know without faith I can never please you, so even with this thorn, I will believe in your word. Lord help me to change my mindset; help change the way I see myself, the way I see people. Lord, change the way I see my situation. Lord, I believe that you will give me a strategy; to become a better leader, to become a better speaker, to help me bring life to my dead situation. I am Prosperous; I am a winner; I refuse to lose; I refuse to let the enemy keep me hostage in my own mind; I decree and declare that, at this moment, I am Free!! I am Free from all worries, free from anxiety. Lord, I believe that you will cleanse my mind and help me to use the resources you have already provided for me, so that you can make way for more. Lord, I know that without you I am nothing. You are my provider; you are the one who keeps me grounded and humble. Lord, on this day, I decide to change my mindset. I will not find something wrong in every decision made. I will be satisfied. Lord, from this day forward, I will trust in you and only you!
